Earth Day, held on 22nd April each year, is a celebration of the planet and a chance to discuss how we can have positive impacts on the environment. As we celebrate the Earth, it’s a good opportunity to see how we can invest in the planet. In this blog we’d love to share tips and discuss on our own sustainable practices.
Importance of recycling
Lots of materials like rPET plastics, glass and aluminium cans can be kept in a closed loop system. This means they are constantly reused when disposed of properly. Why wouldn’t we reuse what we’ve already created when it’s so easy?
Reducing the amount of raw materials we use, preserves and supports the natural resources on the planet. It takes a considerable amount of energy to extract raw materials and harms various ecosystems.
It may not feel like recycling at home makes a big impact, but it does! If we all consciously recycle, we’re contributing to a greener world-wide lifestyle.
Top sustainability tips
- Double check your local recycling laws so you know that you are recycling the correct items.
- Growing your own food where possible is a great idea. Plus, it’s fun and delicious!
- To reduce food waste making use of leftovers is a simple step closer to a zero-waste lifestyle. Using offcuts, for instance skins or stalks, of vegetables to make a stock is an extremely efficient kitchen practice.
- Compost foods that you really can’t eat or use.
- Donate unused clothes to charities or as hand-me-downs so other people can make use of the clothes. Ripped or broken clothes can be posted into recycling bins or used as rags around the house.

Canned Water
Our very own South Downs Water metal cans have an infinite life cycle! This means they stay in a closed loop system just like our plastic bottles.
