2020: Year in review

It’s been a challenging year globally and as a small, independent business we’d like to take this time to thank you for your ongoing support.

Thanks to your loyalty, we’ve been able to keep businesses, homes and workplaces supplied with our water, but importantly it’s allowed us to continue working with local charities, support our local community throughout lockdown and promote our own sustainability and recycling initiatives to help protect our beautiful South Downs.

Above: We carried out more than 1200 Southbourne Farm Shop grocery deliveries in our local area between Chichester and Emsworth during the height of lockdown - prioritising NHS staff, over 70s and those needing to shield.

Despite its challenges, 2020 was a big year for us here at South Downs Water. In February, we switched our 330ml and 500ml plastic bottles to be made from 100% recycled plastic- otherwise known as rPET.

What does this mean? Simply put, we’re using plastic that is already in existence and keeping it in a closed-loop system and out of our rivers, oceans and countryside.

In October, we joined UK Recycle Week to thank our local community for continuing to recycle and look after our beautiful region despite everything that has happened this year.

Our plastic bottles have all had lives before and, so long as they are recycled, will so will go on to have many lives yet. Read more on our Sustainability page.

As we all begin to wind down for the year, we hope you have a brilliant festive season and cannot wait to embark on what we hope to be a slightly more ‘normal’ 2021.
